1: A New Contender in AI Security:
Microsoft used a small San Francisco event on Monday to stake its claim in AI-driven cybersecurity, unveiling its first security-specialized model and a platform built to put it to work. The company positioned both as a direct challenge to Anthropic, Google, and OpenAI, all of which have their own security-focused AI efforts underway.
The model, MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, is built to hunt down hard-to-find vulnerabilities in complex codebases. It runs inside MDASH, Microsoft's existing harness for identifying and fixing software vulnerabilities, and Microsoft says it outperforms rival models on the industry's primary cybersecurity benchmark while costing less to run. Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman said the model is going straight into production.
