Source and scope
This is an industry profile, not a customer testimonial. Air One Heating and Air Conditioning is not an Otherworlds AI client. Every fact, number and quotation below comes from publicly available sources that name Air One directly:
- ServiceTitan blog, April 30 2026 — "Karen, Lucy, Piper and Jenny Are ServiceTitan AI Virtual Agents. And They're Basically Employees Now"
- Air One's own Facebook video, May 20 2026 — employee Julissa demonstrating the AI voice agent
- YouTube Short and Instagram Reel
We did not interview Air One. We are reporting what they and ServiceTitan published.
Who Air One is
Air One Heating and Air Conditioning is a locally owned HVAC and plumbing shop based in Colton, California — in the Inland Empire region east of Los Angeles. The owner is Rocky Lozano. The operation is small enough that the office staff know callers by name, which makes the after-hours coverage gap personal: every missed call is a neighbor reaching out at 9 PM hoping someone picks up.
The problem: after-hours overflow with no good option
Before "Jenny," Air One handled the same tradeoff most small HVAC shops face:
- Office staff answer during business hours (8 AM – 5/6 PM).
- After-hours and weekend calls go to voicemail, overflow, or a live answering service that can take messages but cannot book.
- 35%+ of inbound home-service calls arrive after hours — evenings, weekends, and holiday mornings when an AC failure or no-heat emergency is most inconvenient and most urgent.
- A message taken at 11 AM the next day is a lead that already booked with whoever answered first.
The after-hours window is where a small HVAC company either wins the call or loses it permanently. The traditional fix — hire another dispatcher or pay a live answering service $2,000–$4,000/month — only solves "someone picks up," not "someone books the job."
What Air One deployed
In late 2025 / early 2026, Air One deployed ServiceTitan's AI Virtual Agent, a voice agent built into ServiceTitan's telephony and CRM stack. They named it "Jenny" — after a favorite employee (the real Jenny called Lozano when she found out; she was fine with it).
The agent handles after-hours overflow: when the office closes, Jenny takes the calls. She is trained on Air One's job types, service area, pricing ranges, and scheduling rules. She integrates with ServiceTitan so that bookings go straight onto the dispatch board — not into a voicemail-to-text queue that a human re-keys in the morning.
Escalation logic: if a caller sounds confused, asks for something outside the script, or the conversation goes sideways, Jenny transfers to the on-call human. Everything else she handles end-to-end.
What the public demo shows
Air One's office manager Julissa published a video walkthrough (on the company's own Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube) demonstrating Jenny live:

HVAC After-Hours Calls: The Revenue Math You Are Leaving on Voicemail
- Answers within two rings, 24/7.
- Identifies the caller against ServiceTitan CRM — returning customers don't re-explain their system.
- Knows the shop's service catalog: heat pump repair vs. gas furnace vs. mini-split, what maintenance plans include, what the dispatch fee covers.
- Books a real appointment slot, confirmed via SMS before the call ends.
- Flags emergencies (no heat in winter, gas smell) and transfers instantly to the on-call tech.
In the video, Julissa calls Jenny "my new best friend."
Lozano's observation about caller behaviour
ServiceTitan's published story quotes Lozano making an unexpected comment after listening back to recordings:
Support our research
Independent analysis fueled by you.
"The people that are calling in sound more robotic than the actual AI agent."
That line tells you how normalised phone AI has become in home services. Stressed callers at 10 PM go into flat "I need service" mode. Jenny, because her conversational design is built around the intake flow, sounds calmer, more natural, and more patient than a sleep-deprived homeowner at the worst moment of their week.
That's the inversion nobody expected from "robot answering service."
What the numbers do (and don't) show
ServiceTitan does not publish a hard booking-rate number specifically for Air One (unlike sister deployment Bill Joplin's — 1,361 calls, 72% zero-human-intervention, a profile we cover separately). What they confirm:
- Jenny is in production, handling the overnight shift.
- The deployment is integrated with ServiceTitan — bookings land on the dispatch board.
- Lozano reviewed call recordings and found quality high enough to comment publicly.
- The system has been live long enough to normalise (Julissa calls it "my best friend," the real Jenny is aware and supportive).
The absence of a published number is honest and worth noting. Not every AI deployment ships with a vendor-verified ROI sheet. In Air One's case, the visible outcome is qualitative: the owner jokes about his callers, the team treats the agent as a colleague, and the overnight window is no longer a black hole.
What a small HVAC operator should take from this
-
After-hours overflow is the simplest AI voice-agent use case. Don't rip out your phone system. Deploy the agent behind your business hours. If she's great, expand her coverage. If she's mediocre, you've lost nothing that wasn't already going to voicemail.
-
CRM integration changes the math. A voice agent that "takes a message and emails you" still requires a human to re-key it the next morning. A voice agent that books directly into your dispatch board delivers the booking as good as your best CSR — except at 11:47 PM rather than 9:15 AM.
-
Naming matters more than you'd expect. Every shop in ServiceTitan's story named their agent. It reframes the tool as a colleague. The workflow shift becomes normal faster when humans refer to the agent in first person — "Jenny took that one."
-
The escalation path is the safety net. Air One kept a human reachable for emergencies and edge cases. That's what makes the deployment palatable — you're not locking humans out, you're giving them a first-pass filter.
